Sitting The Aquarium
Notice the sheet of polystyrene in between the tank and stand.
When you consider setting your tank up you will need to consider a few things first.
First put a sheet of polystyrene on top of the tank stand as this will be what your fish tank will rest on. If you put a tank directly onto a stand and there are any bits of dirt left on the stand, they will create pressure points on the glass. When the aquarium is filled up with water it will become very heavy and will crack if the tank is resting on any debris. The polystyrene will act s a cushioning layer creating an even spread of weight being distributed along the bottom.
Next you will need to check that the tank is level with a spirit level. Making sure the tank is perfectly level will make sure there are no stresses in the glass panel. Remember it is impossible to adjust the tank when it is filled with water and equipment.
