Powder Blue Surgeon
The Powder Blue Surgeon (Acanthurus leucosternon), has a steeply rising forehead typical of the species.
The head is black, throat white and the blue body is surrounded by a yellow dorsal fin which helps to make this fish easy to identify. The small mouth is equipped with teeth to help this fish graze on algae or plankton. The Blue powder surgeon fish is found in large groups but can fight amongst themselves in the aquarium.
The Blue powder surgeon fish needs plenty of vegetable based foods otherwise it can starve in captivity. This fish should be kept by itself in a community aquarium because it will squabble with its own kind. It will swim at all levels and will accept all meaty foods but benefits from a vegetable matter diet.
This fish is usually available with little information known on captive breeding.
