Pike Top Minnow
The Pike Top Minnow (Belonesox belizanus), is one of the largest living available livebearing species available to the fish keeper.
The Pike top minnow grows to 20cm in length and is capable of eating other small fish. This is a predatory fish but still should not be mixed with fast moving active fish. This fish will not breed frequently in the aquarium if at all. Conditions will need to be good in order for this fish to breed.
In the wild the pike top minnow will eat other fish and insects found on the water surface but can be trained to take various foods in captivity. It will benefit from live and frozen food.
You will need a tank size of minimum 1 meter and the pike top minnow needs to be kept in water temperatures between 25-30 degrees centigrade. It will benefit from neutral to hard and alkaline water.
