How to detect diabetes in dogs

Diabetes in dogs can often start with obesity so to prevent diabetes you should keep your dog from being over weight. You should ask at your local vest for them to check the weight of your dog to see if it obese. To check if your dog is obese feel around its rib cage. You should be able to feel the individual ribs easily without digging fingers in.
Diabetes usually occurs in mature adults and it is more common for a larger dog to get diabetes than a smaller dog.
When a dog suffers from diabetes it will suffer from excessive drinking and urination. Dogs will sometimes urinate inside the house. Keep allowing your dog to drink water and take it to the vet
You must take your dog to a vet as soon as possible because if untreated diabetes can lead to further health implications. A vet will check the level of glucose in the blood and they will check other organs to check they have not been effected. They will also check the dogs urine to check kidney function.
