Common Brochis
The Common is an excellent community fish and can be kept with medium and small community fish.
They shoal and scavenge food from the bottom of the tank and so are excellent cleaners for the tank. They also provide movement at the bottom levels of the tank. If the tank is dirty their delicate barbels can become eroded and so regular tank maintenance is required. The best substrate is soft sand and bogwood will also be appreciated to mimic their natural habitat.
The Common Brochis requires soft and acidic water and a medium current provided by power filtration. The Common Brochis likes to reside in the open which makes this such a good community fish. It will eat tablet food and happily have a go at all sinking foods. They can live in a minimum tank size of 90cm and prefer a water temperature between 22-28 degrees centrigade.
The Common Brochis is plant friendly and can be bred in the home aquarium.
